Grande Flowers Receives Green Leaf Award

Grande Flowers is proud to announce that we have earned Shorewood Business Improvement District's Green Leaf Award.  This award is given to local businesses to recognize their environmentally friendly practices.  This is the first year this award is being given and we hope this program continues for many years to come.

What do we do here at Grande Flowers to make a smaller carbon footprint?  It goes beyond just recycling, which of course we have been doing for years.  Sometimes it's the little things that make a difference.  Invoices for store use are printed on the back side of paper that has already been used.  We buy our plants and flowers from local vendors which not only supports our local economy, but also reduces pollution and costs associated with packaging and delivery. So, when you shop at Grande Flowers, you are supporting several local businesses.  After upgrading in September to a computerized system for processing orders, we now offer e-billing which eliminates paper statements and postage, reducing our costs which we ultimately pass on to our customers.

We have also partnered with our customers and other businesses such as funeral homes to re-use glass, wire easels and containers that would otherwise be thrown in the trash. We use these items for donations, store displays, and for low-income customers to save money on sympathy flower arrangements.  We encourage regular customers to bring back their vases to not only save money on their next order, but also to avoid unnecessarily cluttering their homes with reusable items.
